Course Details

Art - Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.)

Course Description

The Bachelor of Fine Arts degree is considered the professional degree for the studio art major. Students in this degree complete four semesters of upper division coursework in their selected area of concentration as well as a variety of diverse studio experiences designed to provide both depth and breadth to their studio experience. Most, but not all, students seeking admission to MFA graduate programs select the more studio intensive Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. While the BFA degree requires more upper division art coursework and fewer upper division non-art elective credits it is still possible for students who plan accordingly to complete a non-art minor. Students can complete a BFA in any of ten different concentrations including: Drawing, Photo Image Making, Pottery, Metalsmithing, Electronic Art, Fibers, Graphic Design, Painting, Printmaking, and Sculpture. Consultation with an art adviser can help students determine their best course of study.
