Bachelor of Athletic Training(Major)

Course Description

The Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) at Carthage is a rigorous and intense program intended to provide graduates with the knowledge, skills and competencies of an entry-level athletic trainer. The program prepares graduates to enter a variety of employment settings and to render care to a wide spectrum of individuals engaged in physical activity. The Athletic Training major is an undergraduate level curriculum within the Exercise and Sport Science Department. The program has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) since 2003.

Career outcomes

The Athletic Training Education Program offers a variety of off-site opportunities for students. With a degree and certification in athletic training, students will be eligible for a number of careers outside of college athletic training. For this reason, the program gives every student the opportunity to shadow at a physical therapy clinic, high school, and orthopedic clinic.
