What's more, the longer and broader views of how diverse societies and cultures have organized their lives and coped with challenges can carry us beyond the myopia of the present and help us imagine alternative futures. Whether you are new to the discipline of History or are on your way to graduating with honors in History, we have courses that are designed for you. Our courses span the globe, covering five continents and countless countries, from antiquity to today's headlines. A few years ago, the Department instituted a new numbering system to make it easier to find the courses you are looking for. Concentration requirements ensure that our students get both chronological depth and geographical breadth in their study of history.
