Course Description

Many Augustana biology students participate in internships and research opportunities as part of their work for the biology major or minor. Internships and research opportunities focus on topics including evolution, ecology, animal behavior, conservation biology, physiology, developmental biology, microbiology, and molecular genetics. Internships and research may take place in clinical settings, research laboratories, and field sites. Biology students enrolled one of the pre-professional programs have been involved at internships at many hospitals, doctor's offices, and clinical settings throughout Illinois. Perhaps one of the most unique opportunities available to Augustana biology majors is service opportunity via JETS.

Career outcomes

After completing a biology major at Augustana, graduates are prepared for the work force and to enter graduate programs in basic biology (e.g., evolution, physiology, genetics, etc.), pre-professional graduate programs (e.g., nursing, physical therapy, medicine, etc.).
