Course Description

Radiography is the use of certain types of electromagnetic radiation to view objects. Radiography is the science of imaging human anatomy. Although many of the methods and techniques developed over a century ago remain in use, computers are slowly becoming a part of radiographic inspection. Radiography as a profession calls for considerable technological expertise. Radiographers work as part of the healthcare team in many areas of a hospital including the Diagnostic imaging Departments, Accident & Emergency, Intensive Care Unit and Operation Theatre. Radiographers are responsible for producing high quality images to assist in the diagnosis of disease and injury. The role of a Radiographer is constantly developing and expanding into new areas of responsibility. A radiographer could undertake postgraduate studies and become a clinical specialist, or go on to do research and clinical trials, tele radiology, tele medicine or gain further qualifications such as a master’s degree of PhD, and take up teaching in specialized fields. Employment prospects for radiographers are good, both within the country as well as internationality. In India with the healthcare industry booming, radiographers are constantly in demand in nursing homes, hospitals, diagnostic centres as well as super specialty hospitals. Employment opportunities abound overseas as well.
