Artists, composers and performers take this course to discover how cutting-edge technology can help take them take their work in new directions. At Sheffield, we embrace everything from sound installations to completely free improvisation. Ask tutors about their influences and you'll get some eclectic lists that might include William Burroughs, Steve Reich, Luigi Russolo, Stockhausen, Zappa and Zorn. Based at the University of Sheffield Sound Studios, you'll learn how to use up-to-the-minute studio technology including software tools like Pure Data, CSound, Python and Blue. We will also show you techniques and tools that are still in development.
