This course offers a broad-based knowledge in civil engineering covering geotechnical, structural and water engineering, placing an equal emphasis on analysis and design. Effective civil engineers need a sound understanding of these three areas and their inherent interconnections.

This course was set up in 2004, in response to a global shortage of expertise in this area. Graduates work for international consultancies, contractors, and regulators. Employers include Arup, Buro Happold, Capita Symonds, Roger Preston and Partners, Cundall and Foster and Partners.
