Course Description

About the course Almost every adult in the developed world benefits from dental materials. The pace of innovation in this field is extremely rapid, especially where technologies such as tissue engineering are involved. This course is designed to bring clinicians, scientists and engineers up to speed. It's taught by some of the world’s leading academics in the field, including professors Ric van Noort and Paul Hatton from the School of Clinical Dentistry and Dr Ihtesham Rehman from the university's Department of Materials Science and Engineering. Through lectures, seminars and demonstrations, you'll get a thorough grounding in the scientific method. You will also get training in research methods and techniques for the mechanical testing of dental materials. The course examines the medical, social and legal factors that affect the way materials are used. And we'll look at the technologies driving change. You're assessed on essays, presentations, an exam and a research dissertation.
