If you don't have the usual scientific or mathematical background for an engineering degree, a foundation year is for you. After completing the foundation, which has modules in chemistry, mathematics and physics, you'll proceed to one of our three-year BEng or four-year MEng degrees. You'll study mathematics, applied dynamics, mechanics of fluids, mechanics of solids, applied thermodynamics, mechanical behaviour of materials, and electrical and electronic engineering. Other topics include computer-controlled systems and mechatronics, and the role of engineering in business and management. Optional modules and an extended individual project mean you can specialise depending on your interests. You may be able to switch between our courses at the end of the first year.
