This course is taught by two departments - Geography and Animal and Plant Sciences - both leading UK centres for teaching and research in the physical environment and in environmental biology. Combining your study in this way allows you to develop a broad foundation in environmental science while giving you the flexibility to focus on either physical or biological aspects of environmental science later in your course. Level one involves modules in geography, earth science and biology. These introduce and explore the range of physical environments and ecosystems and provide a foundation for the rest of the course. Level two develops and expands the framework of environmental knowledge, as the specialist routes allow more in-depth treatment of environmental science. An important component of level three is practical: you'll have an opportunity to carry out a field-based or laboratory-based project.
