This is a professional program providing training for students with very high levels of competence in the Japanese and English languages as translators and conference interpreters. It covers four broad, interlinked areas of study: theoretical and practical training in interpreting techniques; theoretical and practical training in translation techniques; training in ancillary skills such as public speaking and job-specific research; and training in professional areas such as ethics and business skills. The program trains graduates for work as conference interpreters and/or translators. It is anticipated that graduates of the program will gain employment as interpreters and/or translators or else upgrade their language skills to a level where they can be used in the practice of another profession.
