Course Description

This dual degree program is designed to provide students with a professional career in music and a depth of understanding in one or more fields of knowledge in the humanities and social sciences, and culminates in advanced research training in their chosen Music Honours field. Students can structure their program within each degree component to include majors in their area of interest and a range of electives. Refer to the Bachelor of Music (Honours) and the Bachelor of Arts for individual program details and requirements for majors.

Career outcomes

Graduates of the BA find employment in a wide range of fields, with future directions dependent on the chosen area of study. Specialised areas of study can lead to careers in Psychology or Journalism, while study in History, Political Science, and Criminology, can provide the basis for careers in government, business, media, and humanitarian fields. Music graduates may gain employment in areas such as performance, accompanying, composing, arranging, lecturing, music editing, arts or education administration, librarianship, research, music programming, media work (journalist, critic, author), music education (instrumental school or studio). While this degree may be accredited by an official industry accreditation body in Australia, completion of the degree may not result in graduates receiving automatic accreditation.
