Course Description

This dual degree will give you the knowledge and experience to explore global issues and make your impact through news and international relations know-how. The Bachelor of International Studies will challenge you to examine the dynamics of global and regional change, explore key developments in international politics and economics, and evaluate why the world is changing around us. The Bachelor of Media in Communication & Journalism will equip you to become an effective communicator within today’s media industry. Our students learn multiplatform storytelling techniques, developing diverse professional skills, from creating digital communication strategies to producing audio-visual news stories. In this program you are not simply skilled up as a writer, you are also encouraged to become an influential and strategic communicator able to tackle complex issues by drawing on your integrated practical and theoretical expertise. This degree will provide students with the opportunity to pursue two diverse career paths and have an international career in a communication focused profession.

This dual degree prepares graduates for international careers in communication and journalism and our graduates can be found in industries worldwide including digital, broadcast and print journalism (e.g. foreign correspondent), advocacy, corporate and organisational communication, public sector communication, public relations, international business, government agencies, including foreign affairs, non-government organisations (e.g. those affiliated with the United Nations in development work, tourism and trade).
