Course Description

Combine your love of computer science and mathematics, for a deeper understanding of both. The Advanced Mathematics degree is aimed at high achieving students who wish to specialise in mathematics as a basis for the increasing range of quantitative careers in areas such as finance, environmental modelling and research. This five year dual degree combines advanced coursework with an Honours-level research project in one of the available plans of study. UNSW offers mathematics students advanced facilities combined with innovative teaching. This program has been designed to cater for the specific abilities and interests of talented students with a superior ATAR. Computer science combines computer programming with other disciplines. Computer science combines proficiency in computer programming, data structures and algorithms with other disciplines including commerce, maths, physics and languages. You will study computation, which looks at how computers process and sort information. Computer Science looks at how algorithms translate elements encoded in a computer's memory and deliver them as information that has been requested or searched for. With this dual degree program, students can add a Science program to the standard, professionally accredited BSc in Computer Science program offered by the School of Computer Science and Engineering.
