Our primary research degree is the PhD. Most of our students pursue this full-time over a period of three years, although you can opt for part-time, usually over a four-year period. Subject Overview Thanks to our wide-ranging research interests we can offer you plenty of choice when it comes to your topic. Here are some of the thesis titles recently completed or currently being researched:- Media coverage of the Iraq War News media representations of Islam and Muslim communities News reporting of women who kill Contemporary horror film and the American film industry Women and sexuality in British cinema Political satire American independent cinema and transmedia storytelling For the programme you'll need to be an Honours graduate and there'll be a yearly assessment which you must pass to continue with your PhD. The earliest a thesis can be presented is two years after full-time registration and it must be completed within four years. Currently, a student registered for a PhD part-time can submit the thesis after four years. You can register for your postgraduate research degree at any time of year, but we'd strongly recommend you register at the beginning of the academic year in September. This will put you in step with our research training cycle and will speed up your progress. Communication and Media MPhil - 2 years Communication and Media PhD - 4 years
