Course Details

Mechanical and Materials Engineering BEng (Hons)

Course Description

Engineering materials such as metal alloys, ceramics, polymers and composites form the building blocks of all the products we use and the environment that we live in. Materials Engineers are experts who are responsible for the selection of appropriate materials, engineering design, manufacturability and processing, environmental impact, quality control and product performance. Whole sections of industry, from aerospace and communications to healthcare and transport rely on their imagination and ingenuity. As a professional Materials Engineer you can expect to have a rewarding career in research, product development and design, manufacturing, process engineering, quality control or management. For a rewarding career, we believe that Materials Engineers must be able to work closely alongside other engineers, and so our core materials programmes have been developed to provide graduate level materials expertise alongside our mechanical engineering disciplines. As such they have been developed as part of our “Liverpool Engineer” approach, with materials and mechanical engineering active learning experiences in all years of the programmes.
