MSc Media Economics is designed to attract students from film, literature and media based undergraduate degrees, who have studied some statistics, and who wish to develop their analytical skills to understand the economic and political context of the industries in which they hope to pursue their careers. If you are an economics graduate, the course will enable you to understand the media better. The course will equip you with the skills required to enter a career in the business aspect of the media, for example account executives in advertising, a career in publishing, finance and management positions in broadcasting. This course fits into our Applied Training Programme which is designed to provide training in new and vocationally attractive skills in Economics. It is appropriate either for graduates with no economics background who wish to understand how markets work and to develop the analytical skills of an economist, or for graduates in economics who wish to develop specialist expertise without committing to full research training. This course provides training that places specialist areas in a wider economic context and shows how the insight from economics can improve workplace performance.
