Course Description

Digital Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities is about developing a critical understanding of digital technologies, their relationship to culture and society, and their application in research. Students can add a minor to their BA focused on examining how digital media and information technology shapes our world, while gaining knowledge and skills essential in today's digital workplace. The DIGI minor also prepares students for postgraduate studies in Digital Humanities and a wide range of other subjects. As well as traditional forms of learning and assessment, the pathway gives students opportunities to create, use or evaluate a range of digital objects, tools and services, including websites, archives, databases, and mobile apps. Students are introduced to topics like text encoding, digital collections and archives, data analysis and visualization, and scripting/programming, as well as more familiar practices like blogging, tweeting and online publishing.
