The full EngD programme takes four years of full-time study or up to seven years for part-time students. Candidates entering directly to the EngD research project are expected to complete full-time study within three years or part-time study within five years. Completion of the requirements for the MSc programme qualifies the candidate for an award of MSc if they decide not to continue with the EngD project. There is also an option for the award of an MPhil in the event that a student is prevented from completing the EngD project. It is assumed that over 25% of the research project study time will be based at the industrial premises.
