This programme discuss the growth of the internet, the web and social media through an analysis of the underlying technologies and the changing social and organisational context. It examines the technologies and business innovations that have contributed to the growth of computer-based information systems. You are required to submit coursework, including computer-based work. You will need access to a standard PC with standard database, spreadsheet, programming language and word processor software. All these are available in the SIM computer labs. At the end of the programme, students should be able to understand how organisations and societies are able to exploit new information and communication technologies; also understand how social aspects are affecting the development in organisations. Graduates can be hybrid managers well-versed in tools, techniques, approaches and philisophies necessary for IT services roles in accounting, banking, consultancy, government, research and etc. The study forms the foundation to start-up own technology-focused business.
