HDFS majors study interdisciplinary research and theory on human development across the lifespan within the contexts of families, school, work, and communities to prepare for careers in schools and helping professions, and to pursue advanced academic degrees. The Child Development option prepares students to work directly with children of all ages and their families. This option is a strong foundation for work in preschool and Head Start classrooms, early intervention, adolescent intervention, parent education and support, or for graduate work in HDFS, psychology, sociology, or education. With additional course work, students can pursue teacher licensure through the OSU College of Education or through other institutions.
