About Us
In 2011, St George’s, University of London entered into partnership with pathway education providers INTO University Partnerships, to form INTO St George’s, University of London. INTO SGUL now offers Foundation and degree level programmes in medical, biomedical and health sciences, designed specifically for overseas (non-UK, non-EU) students. Through these programmes, INTO SGUL offers talented and ambitious overseas students the opportunity to study health sciences in a compact and friendly environment and learn clinical practice at one of the London’s busiest hospitals. The Foundation programme in Medical, Biomedical and Health Sciences is perfect for those students wanting to study medicine or health sciences in the UK whose high school qualifications do not allow them to progress directly into higher education. This is a one-year programme covering Biology and Chemistry up to UK A level, alongside Mathematics, Physics and English and study skills. The programme also provides advice and support for students making applications to degree level programmes in medicine or health sciences. On successful completion of this programme, and on meeting the entry requirements for the relevant programme, students may progress onto the International Medicine BSc/MBBS or the Biomedical Sciences (International) BSc (Hons) offered at INTO SGUL. The International Medicine BSc/MBBS is a six-year undergraduate programme, combining a BSc (Hons) in Medical Science with an MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) qualification that is recognised as a primary medical qualification (PMQ) by the UK General Medical Council. The programme is based on St George’s pre-existing successful MBBS programme, and students will study clinical medical sciences alongside home students during the first four years of their course. The final two years will be spent in clinical practice at affiliated clinical sites overseas. The Biomedical Sciences (International) BSc (Hons) is an innovative three-year Bachelor of Science programme covering the whole range of biological sciences that underpin medicine. It is taught in a hospital environment and offers top performing students the chance to transfer directly into the clinical practice years of the International Medicine MBBS. Finally, INTO SGUL also offers a four-year International Graduate Medicine (MBBS) for international graduates of any discipline wanting to make a career change into medicine. Students on this programme study clinical medical sciences alongside home students during years one and two of their course, before moving into clinical practice at affiliated clinical sites overseas in years three and four.
