Course Description

Engineering is an information-intensive industry and information is an essential resource for major tasks such as design, planning, control, reporting and decision making. With project complexity increasing, the need for effectively gathering, compiling, controlling and integrating information has become much greater. This program provides a comprehensive, industry-focused qualification that equips you with the knowledge and skills to practice as a professional engineer and/or information technologist, through studies focused on artificial intelligence, computing science, information systems or software engineering. You will develop the hardware and software design and implementation skills you will need for a career in leading-edge, high-technology fields such as communications, microelectronics, computer systems, biomedical engineering, and control systems (robotics). The Electronic and Computer Engineering elective studies will allow you to build additional knowledge in the above specialist areas. The program emphasises the development of your electronics and computer engineering and design skills through continual laboratory access. Its focus on work integrated learning includes off-campus industry placement in your final year, ensuring that you will graduate fully prepared for a challenging career in industry, and research and development enterprises.
