(MEcon) Economics and Finance

Course Description

This Economics and Finance MEcon offers a combination of core economics and finance topics, with an emphasis on business in a market context. They aim to equip students with the skills to analyse financial and economic events and their impact on markets. During this course, students have the opportunity to gain a theoretical and practical understanding of the economy and the crucial role played by the financial sector globally. Teaching introduce advanced financial techniques, including pricing and portfolio management. The course aims to equip students with high-level analytical skills that are valued in the business and financial sectors for financial decision-making, portfolio planning, risk management and working within financial markets. On this course, the fourth year of study includes the opportunity to undertake a substantive research project in an area of particular interest. Continuation on to the MEcon is dependent upon students fulfilling the progression requirements.
