The School of Environmental Sciences (SES) offers a wide-range of post- graduate programs geared to recent graduates, working professionals, or those interested in a research career. The Graduate Diploma in Environmental Sciences (GDip-ES) will develop your skills in field and lab techniques for soils, forests, wetlands and aquatic systems. The GDip-ES program takes place each year during May and June can be completed in 8 weeks. In the Master’s of Environmental Science (MES) program you will study the most recent theoretical and technical advances, so that you gain both depth and breadth of knowledge. The MES allows you to choose two options: 1) courses + research project (six courses) and 2) courses-only (8 courses). In both cases, the program can be completed in 12 months or less.You will be able to choose lab or field courses from focus areas such as Earth and Atmospheric Science, Soil Science and Environmental Quality, or you can mix and match to fit your personal goals. In the Master’s of Science (MSc) program you will develop a high level of knowledge in the field of environmental science and expertise in your thesis research area, train in laboratory and field techniques, and obtain excellent writing and oral communication skills.You will receive a minimum funding of $16,500/year over a 2-year eligibility period. In the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program you will become a highly competent, independent, creative, and critical scientist. Research in the PhD program is expected to be original and novel, contribute significantly to the relevant research field, and published in high-quality peer-reviewed journals. Minimum funding for the PhD is $17,500/year over a 3-year eligibility period. Graduate degrees at the PhD level are granted in one of three fields: Earth and Contact Information: Atmospheric Sciences, Ecosystem Science and Biodiversity, Plant & Environmental Health.
