Although the exploration of this life promises important economic, medical and social advances, virtually nothing is known about most organisms. In Zoology you will gain the background needed to launch a career which examines some aspect of this biological diversity. You will obtain a broad foundation of knowledge spanning the disciplines of ecology, evolution and physiology. You can subsequently pursue your own interests. For example, you might choose to gain deeper insights concerning the diversification of life or the physiological adaptations which enable organisms to thrive where humans would soon be disabled. You can even gain research experience by joining field trips to sites ranging from the high arctic to the hot tropics.
