Paramedics are vital members of the National Health Service (NHS) frontline and emergency care. Our three-year degree course is run by experienced paramedics and healthcare educators. We combine academic study with clinical work placements, where a range of health professionals will assist in your paramedic training. Our degree offers a university-based education with a clinical work-based focus. It is designed for keen learners who are enthusiastic about patient care and have a desire to make a difference to people's lives. We will prepare you with the right skills and expertise to undertake this dynamic and challenging role in the out-of-hospital environment. If you are based at our Avery Hill campus you will undertake your clinical work-based practice with the London Ambulance Service NHS Trust. On the Medway degree you will work with the South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust. Your training with us will prepare you to apply with the Health and Care Professions Council as a registered paramedic. During your training you are taught to assess, treat, refer or discharge patients across all age ranges. As a paramedic you will be working primarily with frontline NHS ambulance teams, responding to acute medical or traumatic emergencies. Paramedics now also work in a variety of other challenging settings, including primary care services, minor injuries units and emergency departments. Our expert tutors prepare you to be professional and resilient as well as having the right combination of skill, knowledge and patient care. The BSc Hons Paramedic Science (London) degree begins in September at our Avery Hill Campus. The BSc Hons Paramedic Science (Medway) degree begins in September at our Medway Campus.
