The MA in Early Childhood Studies enables students to acquire and demonstrate advanced knowledge and understanding of issues relating to young children and their families. Through studying this programme you will apply analysis, synthesis and evaluative skills to the research and study of early childhood. The programme takes a holistic approach to the study of children's lives, drawing upon, for example, the disciplines of sociology, psychology, education, history and politics.

Students come to our programme for different reasons. For example, some do the programme purely for their personal development, wishing to advance their knowledge and understanding of an area of study that particularly interests them. Some use the programme to develop their knowledge base before embarking on a career in teaching, either in primary schooling or higher education.
