Research is focused in 2 areas: diabetes, obesity and the secretion and action of insulin (specific interests include: the role of foetal nutrition in programming adult metabolism and disease; the genetics and biochemistry of obesity and insulin resistance, structure and function of receptors for insulin and insulin-like growth factors); and molecular cell biology of membrane traffic: sorting mechanisms on membrane traffic pathways, vesicle coats and adaptor proteins; structural biology of traffic proteins; quality control in the endoplastic reticulum.
