Course Details

Pre-Veterinary Medicine

Course Description

Students who are interested in going to veterinary medical school typically major in biology, chemistry or biochemistry. As these majors include both the required courses for entrance into professional schools as well as additional course work that will help prepare students for veterinary programs and for the entrance exam (the Graduate Record Examination or Medial College Admissions Test). However, other degrees can also prepare students for health professions; thus students are encouraged to major in the field where they excel and should consult a Pre-health Professions advisor about course work. Members of the Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Physics and the Department of Biology offer guidance to students and write recommendations through our Pre-Health Professional Committee (PHPC) composed of biology, chemistry, biochemistry and physics faculty. For more information about the committee or to seek advice please contact one of the committee’s co-chairs.
