The University of Tampa works together with the University of South Florida and the U.S. Navy to provide opportunities for students to become Navy officers. The program provides valuable leadership experience not found in the classroom. The mission of the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) is to develop midshipmen mentally, morally and physically. The program teaches the highest ideals of duty, honor and loyalty and prepares students to become naval officers with the highest responsibilities of command, citizenship and government. The NROTC unit offers participation through four programs: (1) the Navy-Marine Corps Four-Year Scholarship Program, (2) the Navy-Marine Corps Two-Year Scholarship Program, (3) the Four-Year NROTC College Program, and (4) the Two-Year NROTC College Program. Upon program completion, graduates become naval officers who serve in aviation squadrons, on surface ships, on nuclear-powered submarines, at naval installations around the world and in numerous sub-specialties in the Marine Corps.
