Intermedia is the only Undergraduate degree programme in the UK that focuses explicitly upon the conjoining of media specifics prevalent within Contemporary Art. The programme investigates the areas of artistic practice that lie between media. It is primarily focused upon the many different ways of making artwork that emerged post 1945 questioning the medium specifics of Modernism. Installation, performative art, video, text, context specific, post-studio, new media, ambient are all associated with the strategies embedded within Intermedia. Literally meaning ‘between media’, the programme naturally encourages students to test boundaries and to introduce new vocabularies into the artistic conversation.
