Physiology is the element of the biological sciences that explores the many systems that interact to produce the complex machine that is the living person. In this course, you will study these systems and learn how they function in regards to health and disease. The first year of the course is made up of a range of modules looking at human physiology, anatomy, pharmacology and neuroscience, while the second and third years will focus on Physiology. By studying for a degree in Physiology at Cardiff, you will develop an in-depth understanding of how the body works, from molecule to man, what goes wrong in disease and the strategies that have led to the development of experimental models of human disease. You will learn to look at the human body as a system, and will be able to explain how pathologies that affect one organ impact on the organism as a whole. All staff involved in physiology teaching draw upon their expertise and long-standing interests in human physiology and pathophysiology to provide research driven teaching.
