Understanding Disability, Culture and the Concept of Self-Advocacy in Health Care Delivery

Course Description

The aim of this course is for students to be able to develop an understanding of a range of intellectual and physical disabilities. They will reflect on culture and cultural identity as key to influencing the health care context. Additionally students will understand the principles of self-advocacy and its relevance to working within the health, disability and aged care sector. This course includes NZQA unit standards 16870, 16871, 23385 and 27141.
