The aim of this course is to provide knowledge of the principles and application of the sciences underpinning the management of commercial forests in New Zealand. The course delivers an introduction to botany, forest ecology, genetics (plant propagation and tree improvement), chemistry (nutrient management), wood science and the management of forest health, biosecurity and risk. This course includes NZQA unit standards 1126, 1127, 1135, 14667 and 22131.
