This programme will provide students with a broad understanding of the core concepts and practical skills in Information Technology (IT). They will be able to apply the fundamentals of IT technical support, information systems, integration design, and software development as well as the core skills required of an IT practitioner.​

​Graduates of this programme will have the skills and knowledge to work in a wide variety of entry level positions in the IT industry, and will be capable of applying the fundamentals of current and emerging concepts and practice in IT. Additionally, graduates who go on to further learning towards other New Zealand Diplomas may be granted credit recognition for this Certificate qualification. They may only need to complete their learning for the additional skills and knowledge required, for example, for the New Zealand Diploma in Information Technology Technical Support (Level 5) qualification, or they may go on to study at under-graduate degree level. It is recognised that the scope of the programme outcomes will match the requirements for IT support roles at Tier 1.
