About Us

Victoria University (VU) is one of the few Australian universities that is a multi-sector institution (higher education and TAFE). We offer short courses, apprenticeships, certificates, diplomas, degrees and postgraduate studies. Our flexible learning pathways means you can choose your own study journey, entering from various points and exiting when you've reached your goal. We have over 50,000 students enrolled at our campuses, primarily located in the western region of Melbourne (Australia) and at international sites. Our teaching, training, research, scholarship and partnerships are locally relevant and globally significant. We are a tertiary institution like no other. Boasting dual-sector status, our course delivery profile spans the Australian Qualifications Framework, giving students the opportunity to study at certificate level (including apprenticeships) right through to post-graduate level. Currently, Victoria University provides educational opportunities to approximately 50,000 domestic students, and to approximately 12,000 international students both in Australia, and overseas. The University's heartland is Melbourne's west – we have two campuses in Footscray, and in other parts of the west of Melbourne. But as well as having a presence in Melbourne's CBD, we also operate as a trans-national university with students in China, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam and India. But what makes Victoria University truly unique is its students – our students are both younger and older, and more educationally, culturally, linguistically and economically diverse than is the case for other universities in Australia. They include those preparing to enter the workforce as well as new entrants to work and experienced people seeking education to support their career development aspirations.
