The Department offers the MSc in Electronic Engineering by Research and the MSc in Music Technology by Research degree programmes. The MSc by Research is a one year full-time programme (two years part-time) based on a research project which may be in any area of staff expertise. As a member of one of the Department’s research groups you will be supervised on a one-to-one basis by a member of academic staff. The award of the degree is made following the submission and successful examination of a thesis. Progress is monitored in the same way as for other research degrees by a Thesis Advisory Panel. Students undertaking the MSc by Research are also encouraged to take advanced taught courses in Electronics which might help fill gaps in their background knowledge for their research project topic. The choice of courses taken will be made together with the supervisor, at the beginning of the programme.
