BA(Social Science)

Course Description

The degree in Social Science at UWS provides students with a knowledge and understanding of a range of social science disciplines and related research, with emphasis placed on the study of politics, psychology and sociology to give you a solid understanding of how society works and how we interact with each other. There is a central focus on the development of academic and research skills and you will engage in interdisciplinary project and dissertation research in Years 3 and 4. Supported by a deep engagement with the social science research process, you will develop a theoretical and applied understanding of politics, psychology and sociology. You will also develop a range of key transferable skills and graduate attributes that will enhance employability, including critical research skills, information literacies, data-handling and analysis and communication skills. Throughout the programme, you will be supported and encouraged to become a reflective, self-regulated, independent learner. Both the BA and BA(Hons) can lead to further study on a variety of postgraduate programmes.
