Course Description

The course covers a broad range of biosciences at a variety of scales (microscopy to global). A key feature is the interelationship of the biosciences. Relevant practical, mathematical and IT skills are utilised. Work based learning is an integral part of the course. This course has a strong vocational focus, making it ideal preparation for a successful career in a range of science fields, particularly those involving laboratory knowledge and skills.

Career outcomes

This Foundation Degree will lead naturally to careers in the health services or in laboratory science, including pathology, biomedical, toxicology and forensics, as well as more environmental careers such as pollution monitoring and control. If a top-up year is taken, a range of specialisms is possible including biomedicine, disease control, zoology and science teaching.
