Certificate in Automotive Engineering

Course Description

The aim of the course is to prepare students for employment as apprentices in the automotive industry, or to prepare them for further full time study towards becoming an automotive technician. The course time is split between classroom-based theory, practical work and work placements in the industry where students have the opportunity to gain experience in an automotive business. First semester starts in February with class times 8 am–4 pm where possible. Second semester starts in July with class times8 am–4 pm where possible. This time is split between classroom based theory and practical work. One day per week may be spent working with automotive workshops in the region. This gives time to put the skills and knowledge that you gain into practice. It also helps to develop your customer skills, essential if you plan to earn a living!
