BTEC HND in Sport and Leisure Management

Course Description

The Higher National Diploma in Sport and Leisure Management is a very versatile and practical course which will develop your skills and understanding of the Sport and Leisure industry. During the course you will learn about the different roles and responsiblities within the sector and how those roles fit within the overall structure of an organisation or community. There are many employment opportunities within the private and public sector. These include sport centre management or sports development officiers in the public sector, or gym managers, personal trainers, sports coaches or sports retailer in the private sector. You will focus on the development of higher level sport, sport and exercise sciences and related areas and investigate techniques and attributes that are required to work successfully in the industry. You will gain a sound understanding of the theory that underpins the operation and function of the health and leisure industry as well as sports develpoment and health and fitness management.

Career outcomes

Your HND is a nationally recognised qualification which will provide you with a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required in the sector. On completion of your qualification you can progress to employment or on to the second or third year of a relevant degree programme at university. With your HND you can also gain membership of the Institute of Sport & Recreation Management (ISRM) and The Institute for Sport, Parks and Leisure (ISPAL). Following membership you will be able to use the letters M.Inst.SRM.DIP after your title
