The BA (Hons) in Health Promotion is a full-time four year honours degree course. Health Promotion has been described by the World Health Organisation as "the process of enabling people to increase control over their health and its determinants, and thereby improve their health". Health promotion involves helping people change their lifestyle to move toward a state of optimal health. Crucially, health promotion also involves shaping public policy to ensure optimal health, and shaping environments to make it easier for people to be healthy. Empowering communities is also a core aim of health promotion. Thus, health promotion specialists work not just in the health or allied health sectors, but also work with a wide variety of population groups, and in a wide range of settings.
