The BA (Hons) Accounting and Law degree course aims to provide students with knowledge and understanding of legal aspects of accountancy and accounting theories and their strategic applications to firms and organisations operating within a changing global environment. Through use of a wide range of concepts, approaches and learning techniques the course intends to equip students with a range of personal, intellectual and numerical skills in preparation for a career in accountancy management with added legal knowledge to enhance their abilities within this chosen area of employment. The overall aim is that students will be able to act independently in planning and managing tasks with limited guidance in areas which they have studied and will be able to demonstrate proficiency in the use of ICT and engage with blended and technology supported learning. A strong focus will be placed on the 3 key attributes of digital literacy, knowledge and enterprise and a focus on international and global issues.

The nature of the degree means that graduates may enter a range of occupations including: Management, International Finance, Marketing, Police, Trading Standards, Health & Safety, Personnel, Accountant, Local Authority, Civil Service etc., as well as the traditional legal professions of Barrister or Solicitor (following further courses of study namely the Graduate Diploma in Law/Common Professional Examination prior to undertaking the Legal Practice Course or Bar Professional Training Course). As well as the list above, you could also consider careers in banking, finance, insurance or work in public and private sector management.
