Course Description

Welcome to the University of Winnipeg Biology Department website. In this space you will discover that Biology is a broad discipline which includes the subject areas of botany, zoology, microbiology, cell biology, molecular biology, ecology, animal behaviour and genetics. Within these diverse subject areas, our department offers a wide variety of courses and programs that lead to both Bachelor of Science (BSc) and Master of Science (MSc) degrees. Our students are well prepared for careers in many of the areas related to biology or for further studies in professional or graduate schools. Most of the 35 faculty and staff in Biology are housed in the new Richardson College of the Environment and Science Complex, a state-of the-art building that provides modern laboratory facilities for both teaching and research. Both our graduate and undergraduate programs provide rich opportunities for students to learn the theory, contemporary techniques and applications of biology, to do research projects, and to gain experience in teaching undergraduate laboratory classes. We hope you will spend some time navigating through our website to learn more about the people and programs in the Department of Biology.
