Bachelor of Applied Science (Diagnostic Radiography)

Course Description

Learn the skills to create meaningful medical images, enabling an accurate diagnosis of a patient’s condition. You will learn to use equipment ranging from small mobile X-ray machines to larger units, from MRI and CT scanners to highly sophisticated cardiac units. Graduates are eligible to apply for registration as diagnostic radiographers with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia. The Bachelor of Applied Science (Diagnostic Radiography) prepares graduates for clinical practice as diagnostic radiographers.

Career outcomes

Graduates of the Bachelor of Applied Sciences (Diagnostic Radiography) are required to apply for registration with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia before being employed as a diagnostic radiographer. Diagnostic radiographers work in the hospital system and private practice both in Australia and overseas. In the radiology department, graduates will usually work with the radiologist, however, outside the department they may work with a range of medical specialists in a variety of areas. Graduates have the opportunity to work in a range of settings, such as small regional clinics, large metro imaging departments, and emergency wards.
