Upon completion of the Communication degree program you should be able to: describe and explain the major foundations, perspectives, issues, and theories of communication as a result of your engagement with multiple scholarly approaches to inquiry and research within the discipline; demonstrate an understanding of the methods and issues connected with both a social scientific approach and a qualitative/cultural approach to the study of communication through the informed production and consumption of research, analysis and reasoning; understand an array of effects associated with exposure to mass media in order to: (a) analyze and evaluate mediated messages, (b) consume communication critically, and (c) determine how best to engage with diverse forms of messaging; demonstrate the ability to both understand and produce effective oral, written, virtual and mediated communication by adapting your own public discourse to diverse audiences within multiple contexts.
