Ba(Biblical Literature and English)

Course Description

As a dual honours student you'll take half your modules in the Department of Biblical Studies and half in English Literature. The many optional modules mean you can design your degree around your individual interests. First year modules include Decoding the Old and New Testaments, The World of Early Judaism, Introduction to Islam, Myth, Ritual and Afterlife, and Biblical Greek and Hebrew. You'll also study Renaissance writing, with options covering drama, film and literary practice. Our modules in the second and third years allow you to develop specialised interests in topics in theology and religion, as well as English Literature. In your final year, you'll write a dissertation on a topic of your choice. This course is run jointly with the School of English Literature, Language and Linguistics.

Our graduates go into a wide variety of industries, such as journalism, social work, cultural industries, teaching, pastoral work in religious movements and bible translation. Some progress to postgraduate research.
