Course Details

Environmental Science (MSc)

Course Description

Virtually all local and global environmental problems require interdisciplinary approaches in understanding the problems and designing the required solutions. The Master of Science (Environmental Science) and Master of Environmental Science degree curricula emphasize the rigorous application of scientific principles to these tasks. The Environmental Science programs share some courses with the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science. The collaboration between the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science further enhances the breadth of preparation and cross-sensitization of the programs' graduates. Students enter the Environmental Science Program from a wide range of undergraduate science backgrounds, including the undergraduate program in Environmental Science offered at Grenfell Campus (Memorial's campus in Corner Brook). Our graduate program gives students an opportunity to build upon their undergraduate science education, to investigate its environmental relevance, to see how it relates to other scientific disciplines important in Environmental Science, and to learn more about these other disciplines. The programs have two primary goals: to provide instruction in the application of scientific theory to the examination of environmental problems to sensitize students to the interlinkages between scientific disciplines
