Course Details

Applied Psychology BSc

Course Description

The principles guiding the syllabus are to provide a wide initial coverage and steadily increasing depth of study in the various topics, taking into account the importance and topicality of any specific material. In the Final Year you will be able to specialise in topics of particular interest. An integral part of the course is the teaching of research methodology and you acquire competence in the use of statistical methods to analyse data from experiments in the laboratory and in the field. In your Final Year you will be given the opportunity to use these skills to conduct an original research project under the supervision of a member of the teaching staff who specialises in the area of psychology your research is focussed on. All of the academic staff in the School of Psychology are enthusiastic psychologists engaged in active research programmes in their various fields of expertise. This has a direct impact on the teaching programme, not only because you are being taught by experts in their field, but also because it affects whom you may be working with on your Final Year project.
